Paddling Van For Sale!
0 Comments Published by Lowri September 6th, 2010 in General Life, Kayaking, for saleAfter many happy times together, I am selling the FlowFree van – an ideal paddle-wagon…
(click on the images to see full-size versions)
It’s fully outfitted with proper double sofa-bed, stove, cupboards and leisure battery for all rear electrics. It’s well insulated, making it warm in the winter, cool in the summer and most external noise in blocked out with the doors closed. There are fleece curtains to block out unwanted light while you sleep.
The sofa-bed works well and is very comfortable in both bed and sofa settings, making this a great van for living out of on the road and very sociable for when the weather is poor outside! Being around 5’10 wide, this van is wide enough for most people to sleep across – especially if you sleep diagonally. This is one of the only vans where this is possible and it really makes a difference to how much living space is available.
The van comes with a handy removable seat cum storage box. It can be used as an additional seat for outside while van-camping.
Despite all the fittings, you can fit a lot in it. 2 playboats fit under the bed, or one creek boat but I’ve had 4 creek boats and 4 playboats plus gear in there before (including the bed, cupboards etc)! Again, the width of the van is very useful – I often put playboats width-ways across the living area and when I park up move them across the front seats (where I have fitted up to 3 playboats before!).
There is a tough Rhino Roofrack fitted, which has taken 8 kayaks or 2 open boats without hassle.
Under the bed there is storage space for a fold-up table and deck chairs. In fact, this van has loads of handy little storage places, such as this wheel-arch cover (below) and the round pockets above the bed (see top internal photos).
Electrics in the rear include a radio/ cassette head unit, 4x 12v power and a main light. These are all powered by a leisure battery which is charged by a split charger as the van runs – the leisure battery can be run flat without affecting the main battery power or the van’s ability to start. I think the leisure battery will need replacing though as it loses charge quite quickly – this is a simple and cheap job.
The mechanical stuff:
Fiat Ducato 10
1.9 Diesel
Medium Wheelbase
P-reg (1996)
167,000 miles on the clock but I had a reconditioned engine fitted last year, so the current engine milage is roughly 122k (van still being used)

The van starts well every time and the engine sounds very well, though it is quite loud! It doesn’t leak oil, though does use some through use (no more than any other diesel of its age).
Bad bits:
- No power steering (by design, not cos its broken!)
- Cab fan motor not working (very cheap part)
- Indicator switch sometimes sticks
- Sometimes crunches into 3rd gear (but has done so since I got it and hasn’t got any worse in over 3 years of use)
The van is taxed until 31/1/2011 and MOT’d until Feb 2011.
It had new rear brake cylinders at the end of January and has been serviced every 6,000 miles since the new engine went in. Just had oil & filter change.
Had a new exhaust in June 2009 with a 3 year guarentee.
All related paperwork and receipts will be given over with sale of van.
The exterior of the van is in good condition, with only light scratches and no big dents. The sign writing will be professionally removed before sale.
This great paddle-wagon / campervan combo is yours for just £1350.
