Thaarr be a storm a-comin’!

Today was one of those beautiful days when you expect nothing but everything just falls into place.

“Ferries from Holyhead are cancelled until further notice” crackled my radio as I turned my wipers that last notch? from ‘rapid’ to ‘hectic’. Perhaps today is not a Stanley day after all.? We? beared left and headed into the hills…

I’d never paddled the Nantygwyryd before, but I have to say that it was absolutely excellent in? spate. Big slides at the put-in, followed by continuous and fast grade IV and one grade V drop, Llys Falls,? which certainly got the heart racing. Combined with driving rain and gale force winds, this felt like a true adventure just a few miles from my own front room. Unfortunately, we have? no photos as there was no way that anything was staying dry out there today!

Hopefully these storms are currently battering Portugal’s hills too, as in less than 48 hours? I will be flying out there with friends for a week of boating over New Year.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone!
