The Davies’ write Poetry?!
0 Comments Published by Lowri December 3rd, 2007 in General Life, mishaps, poetry, randomA couple of years ago my car blew up in? France, leaving my brother and I stranded with this much stuff…
…instead of enjoying a free,? fully catered kayaking holiday in the Alps!
At the time, we wrote this poetic masterpiece to people back home, but I stumbled upon it today and thought it should be saved for posterity!
Mon? Jun 20, 2005:
I want to tell you a story; one sad but true.
There was once a girl called Lowri, who’s car went kapoo.
For weeks and months the car had been dying,
But Lowri was strong and was never crying,
She went on a trip to France and Swiss,
With the car something was amiss.
The car stuggled and strained,
Lowri felt drained,
But 2 weeks of fun had been,
Lots of new friends and cool things she had seen,
Then it was time to head south,
With pain au chocolat in her mouth.
Now the story becomes glum,
And Lowri becomes a bum,
This part of the trip was meant to be free,
Instead they needed an Ibis key,
Hundreds of phone calls to many nations,
Lots of confusion and alterations,
Left Lowri and brother stranded…
A taxi they demanded!
“To Grenoble” she proclaimed,
“On the insurance this will be claimed”,
With nothing but the shirts on their backs,
They spent 3 days [so? far] making tracks,
Between patissaries and ice cream shops,
Round they went like spinning tops!
Monday came and on a call they waited,
With their breath baited, [thank god cos by now it stank!]
Euro Assist lost their car,
So they chilled in a bar,
But the Ibis was now full,
And the outlook was dull.
To a sketchy hotel they went,
Where everything had a dent,
New clothes they had to buy,
And everyone could see why,
A toothbrush raised a smile,
It had been a while.
And so the story continues,
With very little news,
Where is the car?
Has it gone far?
Has it died?
Or will they get another ride?
Wed Jun 22, 2005:
Tuesday morning the car was found,
Lowri is grateful to that sound,
Blown the head gasket, so they say,
Much to her dismay,
Insurance will only do half the job,
They’re dodgy cowboy mob.
The car will go home on a truck,
Leaving Lowri and brother stuck,
Three kayaks, three blades and kit,
Too much for a plane to sit,
Flights cost too much anyway,
They have to get home some other way.
Perhaps get a car on hire,
But she is twenty with too much fire,
So to another hotel they wander,
On what to do they ponder,
Tonight Grenoble will dance,
But will Lowri ever leave France?
To the rescue Mark comes rushing,
His high speed record he will be pushing,
Thanks to a friend; kind and true,
Lowri is saved from all sorts of poo,
Hurray for Mark and his big car,
He truely is a shining star!

I would like to add that after a carefully worded? letter, Euro Assist agreed to pay all costs resulting from their inefficient handling of my case.
