Noticeably Happier
0 Comments Published by Lowri October 18th, 2007 in Aberystwyth, General Life, Kayaking, photography, surfApparently I am “noticeably happier” when I’m in Aber? – a statement? I can easily believe.
A couple of weeks ago? as I wandered down the hill? from my lectures on a beautiful sunny evening, I thought how great it’d be of there was some surf – even just a little for a sundown splash.? About? 15 minutes? later…
Thanks to Rob Clark for the above images – more of the evening surf? at his flickr page.
Last weekend the surf was fantastic. We took some of our newbies out in Borth, where there is a long, gradually sloping sand beach which is beginner friendly with 1-2 foot waves for them to practice on;? alongside? had 3-4 foot clean waves for the experienced paddlers. I nailed my first proper head-dry kickflip off the back of a wave and managed a pistol flip – making me a happy bunny!
This evening our location on the west coast meant we were graced with another great sunset.
The dolphins were out too, but I didn’t catch them on camera.
A relaxed, seaside town with loads of good friends, nice cheap pubs and fantastic free live bands; ideally located for surfing and river running across Wales; stunning scenery and not a smokestack or motorway in sight… it’s? hardly surprising that? living in Aber? puts a smile on my face!
