September: the start of a new acedemic year. At Universities across the country, that can mean only one thing… hundreds of baby faced freshers! Tuesday was ‘Sports Fair’ at Aber Uni, which basically involves all the sports clubs pitching themselves? to freshers and returning students to try and get new members (and their membership fee).
As a member of the canoe club’s? committee (again), I was recruiting hard.
Our stand was fantastic; with photo billboards decorated by Megan and Becky, posters, laptops showing? videos from our trips, stickers, discount cards, boats, hoodies etc.
…and the best bit -? a fully kitted manakin sat? in Pinky:
Other than the obvious, our tactics ranged from mischieveously flyering everywhere (from the frontdoor of the union? to? toilet cubicles)? and creating a path of arrows towards our desk…
…to? attracting people with our raw sexiness!
In one day we signed up around 160 people for the canoe club. That’s some top convincing, selling and? flirting by all involved!? Well done guys!
After a long day of selling the best club in world, it was time for some powernapping before the evening activities began!
Thanks have to be given to Stormriders? for giving us stuff to give away and? Tom Laws and the WCA for sorting out these cool acedemic calendar posters promoting the river access campaign.
Awesome, the planners arrived! Were they popular?
Yes we gave one to each person that paid their membership on the day and only had enough for the committee and boathouse left over. Perfect. Cheers!
