Random weekend in London

With no water anywhere (except Scotland where my brother is reporting first decents and much fun), I was all set for a day out in London followed by a mad night’s partying. I was prepared for randomness, but…

Andy and I? spent the afternoon wandering around London’s South Bank, got some free cookies, watched some free fireworks on the Thames? (which we didn’t know about), saw Andy’s lifeboats and visited some art galleries (OK, that did include the slides in Tate Modern).

Fireworks? Pretty London?!

That night we met with some guys I work with to go to? Digital Fusion Presents: TERMINAL @ The Renaissance Rooms.

Andy and I? Adrian

Ever seen the film ‘Sliding Doors’?

We? missed the last train home by a matter of milliseconds (along with around 15 other people who were running from every entrance of the station, some were even banging on the train door as it left!) but this led to a cool series of events. Andy and I both looked through our phone books, desperately trying to find someone we could call in the middle of the night with a floor to stop on in London. I sent Patrick Clissold a text, never for a second really believing he would be in London and not on a paddling mission somewhere. Not only was Patrick in London, he was out in town too and had a spare bed to offer! 3 hours after missing our train, we made it to his posh? (just off)? Kensington Road? flat.

BANG BANG BANG … “BREAKFAST!” – What a great way to start the day…

Sunday was nice and relaxed with a roast dinner, a visit to their rooftop to admire the view? and plenty of idle chatter… alongside? less idle chatter about politics and possible destinations for the British Universities Kayaking Expedition (for which Patrick is also attending the selecton weekend in 2 weeks time). We are both very excited!

All-in-all, not a bad result from missing the train!
